About us
Based in Glasgow, Open Aye has been working with social enterprises, charities and community groups since 2010 to provide photography, videos and participatory photo projects.
We believe that equal and inclusive representation matters, and we aim to provide photography services and outputs for social & environmental change.
Open Aye was created to provide a platform for those who are often unheard in public communications campaigns, through collaborative approaches for the co-creation of images and messages.
We offer professional, positive photography and videography, creating meaningful and impactful imagery that can be used across various media platforms.
Open Aye also provides participatory photography projects for partner organisations with therapeutic, research and advocacy outputs that positively influence the wellbeing of the individuals that take part. Open Aye's work has far-reaching impacts with advocacy campaigns being used in multi-media platforms and around local communities, in museums, galleries, libraries, schools and shopping centres. We can create participatory photo projects around any issue, need or group.
Our Social Mission
Open Aye provides direct social impact through positive, collaborative visual storytelling and social action research projects.
We engage with communities of diversity, difference, disability and disadvantage, engaging in areas such as housing and homelessness, refugee issues, mental health, alcohol and drug recovery, environmental stewardship, volunteering, youth employability, isolation and loneliness, crime and justice, urban planning and elderly LGBTI visibility in the mass media. Open Ayes projects are varied and wide ranging.
At the heart of Open Aye lies our ability to provide accurate and positive portrayals of people, places and communities through visual imagery whilst also working collaboratively and sensitively with those who feature in our work.
Through empathy and respect, we work to ensure that everyone involved in the process is comfortable, enjoys themselves and appreciates the outcome. The result is images that tell a story, garner support or inspire action.
