Sectors we’ve worked in
About us
Glyn Wylfa was established with a grant of nearly £600,000 from the National Lottery. The community enterprise now makes all its income from trading and reinvests its profits to support local charities and improve its environmental sustainability.
The café has become a community hub and tourist information centre. The office spaces are rented out to local businesses that provide essential services for the benefit of the local community.
Our Social Mission
We are a business with primarily social objectives whose surpluses are reinvested for that purpose in the business and in the local community, rather than being driven by the need to maximise profit for shareholders and owners.
We are a social enterprise business that trades for a social and environmental purpose. There are more than 131,000 social enterprises in the UK, with a collective turnover of £78 billion and employing around 2.3 million people.
Social enterprises demonstrate a better way to do business, one that prioritises benefit to people and planet and uses the majority of any profit to further their mission. Social enterprises contribute to reducing economic inequality, improving social justice and to environmental sustainability
Caffi Wylfa
Operates as a café, community hub and tourist information centre and is open 7 days a week. The Caffi employs 17 local people and has increased sales each year by increasing the scope and scale of its menu and responding to customer demand. After the Covid Pandemic, we have exceeded 75,000 visitors per year to the Caffi.
