We offer delivery seven days a week and with a 98% on time in full rate, making us a reliable option for your business.
Our wholesale service supports our Proofers Programme, which means that when you buy from us, you will be directly supporting refugees into work. Through calling new customers and managing orders, our Proofers develop key IT and customer service skills needed to progress into work and beyond.
Our baked goods are made with simple and Organic ingredients, good for the planet, and for you!
Our baked goods are made with organic flour from Shipton Mill, who source only the best quality grains and support farming practices informed by agro-ecological principles. Their organic flours are certified by the Soil Association and their organic practices are designed to work with nature, not against it. Organic farming has a smaller impact on the soil, and is better for you.

About us
Transforming lives one loaf at a time since 2015
Growing from a bike delivery to a market model, to an e-commerce and wholesale service, Breadwinners has sought to continuously improve over the years in order to be able to support more young refugees and people seeking asylum through selling bread!
2015 - Marika Wilkinson and Shipton Mill founder John Lister come up with the idea for Breadwinners.
2016 - The Breadwinners Foundation is officially launched as a charity. Originally, our mission was to support people into employment by helping them set up their own fresh bread bike delivery business.
2017 - Breadwinners shifts to its current market stall model with our first paid employability programme for young refugees, the Breadwinners Programme, launched at our first market at Victoria Park. Martin Cosarinsky Campos also joins as Managing Director in the fall.
2018 - Our second, voluntary programme for young people seeking asylum, the Risers Programme, is launched and we expand to four markets across London.
2019 - Our core team grows from two to four members and we support 30 programme participants for the first time over the course of the year!
2020 - Our E-commerce and third programme for training Online Sales Representatives, the Proofers Programme, are both launched following the temporary closure of markets during the COVID-19 pandemic.
2021 - We open in a second city, Brighton, with our Breadwinners pilot programme and launch our Wholesale service to stock our baked goods in coffeeshops (replaces our E-commerce). We also move into our first office ever located in 3Space Brixton!
2022 - Our core team grows to a total of nine members across London and Brighton, our first Risers programme pilot is launched in Brighton, and we pass the 14 markets milestone!
2023 - We supported 181 refugees and young people seeking asylum in the financial year 2023/24.
2024 - We launch our new Theory of Change. As well as our employability programmes, we recognise and focus on the importance of community building activities, youth voices and safeguarding and crisis response as building blocks of our work.
Helping to raise youth voices are our two communications assistants Peju and Sara!
Our Social Mission
Breadwinners is a grassroots charity providing employment, training and mentoring for young refugees and people seeking asylum.
We transform lives through selling bread.
We employ refugees to sell the organic artisan bread at farmers’ markets in London and Brighton, and to manage our online bread delivery service.
Our three employability programmes provide jobs, work experience, training and mentoring for refugees and young people seeking asylum.
Ingredients for change
Work
In the same way that all our bread starts with a sourdough starter, all our programmes start with work or work experience.
We provide paid work for our Breadwinners and Proofers on our market stalls and our wholesale service for Corporates and Cafes.
Training
Without great flour, our bread can’t get very far, and without our training workshops, our programmes would be missing something essential too.
We provide employment training on subjects like interview skills and CV writing.
Mentoring
Water is what brings the bread dough together. Like water, mentoring completes the programme and allows our young people to thrive.
You can register your interest in becoming a volunteer mentor here.
Our Programmes
Risers
Risers provides early intervention support for young people seeking asylum aged 16 to 24. We provide work experience and training as Market Stall Assistants.
Breadwinners
Breadwinners supports refugees who have been granted refugee status in the UK, but are struggling to find employment. They manage our markets and receive training.
Proofers
Proofers up-skills our Breadwinners, developing their customer service and IT skills through running our e-commerce. The programme was born from the Covid-19 pandemic.
